Microsft Exchange server 2010 : Microsoft Exchange server  name resolution in outlook
HI we are having a problem where outlook is resolving to a internal dns name of our exchange server CAS as seen below vantage01.stpaul.sk.ca is only valid internally (and also not one of the names on our ssl cert) what we want to type in there and have stay there is gscsmail.gscs.sk.ca how can we make that happen is there a cmdlet that will register that for us (vantage01.stpaul.sk.ca is infact the AD domain internally)

That is the default behavior, if you haven't created an RPC client access array then the name you see in outlook will be the first CAS created in the site. If you have a server with multiple roles than it will be the same server as your mailbox role. It's not supposed to be set to your external DNS name, the best practice is to create an RPC client access array, for example outlook.internaldomain.com (this is the common naming convention) If you only have a single server with multiple roles you can just leave it as is, but you need to get a SAN cert and include this internal DNS name as well. Hi, Do you receive the certificate warning from outlook? The 'Microsoft Exchange server' name should not cause the certificate warnning. The outlook only check the server side's certificate when using Autodiscover or Outlook anywhere. More information, please refer the following KB article: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/940726
